Taking care of your WordPress Blog Search Engine Optimization

I have been using WordPress for more than 6 years now and SEO is something which is taken care by the core features of WordPress. But there are some reasons to tweet your WordPress for Search engines. There are some very good WordPress SEO plugins which will take care of your WordPress Blog.

All in One SEO plugin is the most widely used plugin for WordPress SEO. It takes care of custom keywords, meta description, title, etc. Your WordPress theme should be SE optimized so that you do get listed on search engines like Google, Bing, etc. I get 85% of my traffic from Google, so I have never bothered to go into the Search Engine ranking rules of other search engines.

Page Loading Time

Make sure that your blog loads in the minimum possible time. Your visitors do not have much time to wait until your bulky page loads fully. If you use Google Webmaster Tools, then you should be able to find the speed ranking of your blog.

Title and Description of your Blog

Make sure you have the right title for your blog. You have an option to add your blog title and the blog description at your Dashboard settings. You should make sure that the title tells the visitors as well as Search Engines what your blog is all about and the description should give a bit more explanation. Do not just stuff the title and description with keywords. Do things thinking about your blog readers more than search engines. Search Engines are intelligent enough to understand what your blog is about and what every post is about. Trying black hat or un-ethical tricks to fool the search engines could land you in trouble, so never even think about it. Just follow the Google Webmaster Guidelines and write content for your blog visitors.

As far as I am concerned, I have never bothered much about writing my blog posts thinking of getting into Google SERP’s but I have felt that the title of every blog post has lot of influence on getting listed on search engines.
